“There is nothing for certain except death and taxes,” as the old saying goes, but I would rewrite it to say, “there is nothing for certain except death, taxes, and change,” and we sure have experienced a lot of change over the past 18 months.
So, if the change is inevitable, what happens when there is too much in an organization? Change is exciting, scary, overwhelming, anxiety-producing, and can cause insecurity. These emotions and thoughts flow bi-directionally, from an organization to its employees and employees to the organization. Well, the result is usually not good.
Back to the question; if the change is inevitable, what happens when there is too much in an organization? Some levels of chaos will most likely ensue; turnover, decreased engagement, performance, and training. Moreover, absenteeism will increase, a culture of silence will develop, lack of knowledge transfer, and much more.
